Turtle Invitational 2025

A weekend to remember in Bedford, New York!

When I got the invitation to the Turtle Invitational 2025, I really had no idea what to expect, other than my friend’s cryptic assurance: “You won’t be disappointed…” A privately organized event at a stunning estate? Sure, sounded interesting. But nothing prepared me for what was to come.

This wasn’t just another car show. Think 400 cars and over 1.000 enthusiasts gathered on beautiful grounds, with stories and passion for cars.

From the moment I arrived, it was clear this event was special. Not just because of the cars, although they were incredible, but because of the people behind them. Every vehicle had a story, and the owners were more than happy to share. In fact, it was the stories that made the experience unforgettable.

Choosing a “car of the show” was nearly impossible. Together with my fellow judges Ken Gross, Wayne Carini, Tom Cotter and Revs Institute CEO Jonathan Witmer we had a difficult task. How do you pick your personal favorite when a pristine BMW 507 is parked next to a Purple 1970 Dodge Challenger? Or when you spot a brand-new Kimera with the owner’s wife’s name stitched lovingly into the seats,  now that’s commitment!

The Dino class was especially stunning, with nine Dino GTs and GTSs lined up in proud formation. There was a fully original, 12,000-mile only Porsche 911 Turbo in rich Mocca Brown with coffee leather, super clean, simply mouthwatering. Nearby, a beautifully patinated Jaguar SS 100 caught the eye, owned by a fascinating collector who clearly lives and breathes classic cars.

But one story stood out above the rest. I met a gentleman who, 40 years ago, was gifted a Jaguar XK 120,  the very car he still owns today. He was just a 20-year-old student when he received it. And it’s still all original, showing only a few honest scuffs and scars of use. It was gorgeous and what made it even better is that he drives it. In fact, nearly everyone at this event drove their cars in. No trailer queens here just enthusiasts who truly enjoy the art of driving.

The Turtle Invitational isn’t just a car event, it’s a celebration of stories, passion, and people who cherish the machines they own. I feel lucky to have been part of it, and I truly hope to return in two years’ time.
